Celebrating 60 Years of Progress—Locally & Nationally

On August 3, we join the nation in reflecting on six decades of community-driven care, from the first Health Center Program grant in 1965 to serving 1 in 10 Americans today National Health Center Week.

FMC’s Local Milestones

  • 8 clinics across Lawrence County in Chesapeake, Ironton (Campus & One-Stop), Proctorville, South Point, Rock Hill, Nancy’s Place, and Aid Family Medical Centers.

  • Telehealth growth during the pandemic kept rural patients connected to care—no 50-mile drives required Family Medical Centers.

What’s Next for Lawrence County
To sustain this progress at FMC, we urge Congress to:

  1. Pass long-term funding before September 30, 2025.

  2. Invest in our local workforce—from Ironton to South Point.

  3. Protect 340B savings to keep meds affordable for our neighbors.

  4. Expand telehealth so every schoolkid in Rock Hill and beyond can see a provider virtually.
